Happy Mother's Day!

Today took on a whole new meaning for me. At 30 weeks pregnant I am joyfully celebrating my first mothers day! If I can be a fraction of the mom that my mother has been to me then I feel like I am going to be a wonderful mom. :-) Thanks a million mom, for everything!

About last night . . . .

I now firmly believe that my body is preparing me for caring for a newborn. I was AWAKE from 1:30 - 3:30 AM. I think the heartburn woke me up but between the tummyache, the restless legs and the racing mind, I was not going back to sleep. So I checked Facebook, tried to fall asleep on the couch and eventually gave up and just laid in bed trying not to disturb my blissfully slumbering husband. Last night as I lay awake I visualized and planned the decor for the nursery, redecorated our entryway, weighed the benefits/risks of immunizing our child and organized an event for Scot's office - all in my mind. This morning I am exhausted!

Pre-pregnancy I would have run down to Java to grab a big 'ol latte but since I am off caffine (for the most part) during pregnancy and coffee contributes to the wicked heartburn, I am settling for water and the promise of a potential nap at lunch.

Miss you coffee, see you in a few months. :-)

29 weeks, where did you go?

My last post was last Friday. That feels like yesterday, not a week ago. Some pretty cool stuff actually happened this week, including our first baby shower! We have been meeting with a group of couples through our church for the past 8 months. They are an amazing group of people and we have really enjoyed our time with them. Turns out that three of the 7 couples are pregnant right now! The rest of the group threw us a group baby shower on Sunday to celebrate the upcoming population explosion.

Scot was out of town and since it was a couple's shower my parents came as my dates. Clearly my mom is thrilled with the diaper game. :-)

I won second place in the game and my prize was a candy bar. Too bad I was not really in the mood for chocolate after that. :-)

All joking aside, it was one of the sweetest baby showers I have ever been to and so much fun to share with two other pregnant friends. Here we are in order of arrival Britt (due in 2.5 weeks!), Julie (due in June) and me (due in July).  

Finally, a Squash!

I thought baby and I would be stuck at the eggplant phase forever. I am happy to report that we have graduated to a squash. In honor of the day I found my 'squash-iest' shirt to show off the squash bump.

Wow - when you place these side by side you can see baby is really starting to grow - or at least mommy is!

Fun facts about this week: Baby weighs nearly three pounds now and measures about 17 inches. Over the next 11 weeks, he'll more than double — or even come close to tripling — his weight. 

Pack it on kiddo - we are hoping and praying for a big, healthy boy! :-)

28 Weeks

We are officially into the third trimester! Where did the time go!?!? Now that we are 2/3 cooked I am thinking it is time to start preparing for a baby rather than just reveling in being a preggo. Well, maybe I can do a little of both - I do love being pregnant. :-)

We got a little artistic in California and took advantage of the amazing sunset to capture some shots of my belly. These are a couple I can comfortably show on the blog.

The Babymooners

This past weekend Scot and Sarah became 'The Babymooners'. We whisked down to Carmel, California for a weekend of fun and relaxation to celebrate this special time of anticipating our baby. I guess this was also a last hurrah before our lives change and it is no longer just the two of us. Needless to say, a special weekend for a lot of reasons and California did not disappoint. 
We stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel. Special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Turturici for the fancy digs.

Day 1: Spent the morning hiking at Point Lobos Reserve. I look like I have a soccer ball under my shirt. :-)

 It is harbor seal pupping season right now along the coast. The beaches were like nurseries, full of mommies and babies. As an emotional pregnant lady, I took this as a sign that we were in the perfect vacation spot. Poor Scot had to hear me coo at the baby seals.

Scot drove A LOT this weekend! He is such a trooper and a good driver, thanks babe!

While Scot drove, I played navigator. I did okay, Scot is a patient man. :-)

Next up on our day of adventure: The 17 mile drive. Known to golf enthusiasts as Mecca because it gives one the opportunity to see Spanish Bay, Spyglass and Pebble Beach golf courses. The view for everyone else isn't too shabby either.

Spring Showers

This weekend we did yard work and shopped on Saturday to prepare for a baby shower for my good friend Danielle. I was a little nervous because it POURED rain on Saturday night. Sunday morning was threatening rain but by the baby shower, the weather had cleared up and it was beautiful! We filled our backyard with girlfriends to celebrate the approaching arrival of little Josie. It was a lot of fun and has me dreaming about more backyard functions and BBQ's - now if only the weather would cooperate.
