Spring Showers

This weekend we did yard work and shopped on Saturday to prepare for a baby shower for my good friend Danielle. I was a little nervous because it POURED rain on Saturday night. Sunday morning was threatening rain but by the baby shower, the weather had cleared up and it was beautiful! We filled our backyard with girlfriends to celebrate the approaching arrival of little Josie. It was a lot of fun and has me dreaming about more backyard functions and BBQ's - now if only the weather would cooperate.

Reggie and the Man I Love

I commented to Scot the other night that the only thing that is annoying me about pregnancy is Reggie, our cat. He sheds and he has this UBER annoying meow that he uses when he wants outside. And it seems he ALWAYS wants outside. Then once he is outside he sits and stares into the windows like a stalker because he wants back INSIDE. I think he is messing with me just because he knows how annoyed I get and let's be honest, he is a cat, he does not have much else to do save sleep and annoy me! The thing is, I have to temper my cat intolerance because Scot loves Reggie. Reggie knows that Scot loves him and does crazy cute things around Scot to keep that love growing. When Reggie plays with a toy or chases Scot up the stairs I know I don't stand a chance and Reggie has won.

So I guess there is a marriage lesson to be learned here. Even though I don't love Reggie as much as Scot, I am trying to find a soft spot for the little fur ball. Why? Because Scot has a soft spot for the fur ball. Marriage is all about compromises and learning to love what your partner loves, right? Truth be told, I would probably be devastated if little Reggie was not around. Every once in a while he will do something cute and I too will be wrapped around his dirty little paw, at least until he starts meow/whining again.

GREAT Grandpa turns 90!

That's right, I have a GREAT grandpa. He is 90 years young this month and on Saturday we celebrated him with a surprise party. I will repeat, we threw a SURPRISE party for a 90 year old! As risky as that sounds, it turned out perfectly. He was genuinely surprised and after that he was all smiles (and a few happy tears). It amazes me to think about the amount of life and love you can accumulate in 90 years.

Grandpa is an amazing man and he has lived a beautiful life (some sweet, some bitter) but here is what I took away from the day in terms of living a good life - live simply, be giving to others, love God and surround yourself with family and friends - oh yea, and fish. :-)

Seattle - Day 2!

I know, I know, it took me a week to get to blogging about our second day in Seattle. Why are the weeks flying by right when I finally want them to slow down so I can savor being a preggo? Oh well, come the end of June I am probably going to be whining that I want time to speed up so I can have this baby and see my feet again.

But I digress, on to day 2 in Seattle. 

We started the morning by walking to Top Pot Doughnuts. Apparently President Obama had a doughnut at this place the last time he visited Seattle. I can't say that I blame him - mmmmm doughnuts.

Who can settle for just one breakfast? After Top Pot we walked to our favorite breakfast spot in Seattle, Pesos. I would have shown you a picture of my lovely eggs benedict but I ate too fast. Don't judge, I'm pregnant. :-)

 After enjoying two breakfasts we walked from Queen Anne along the water back toward downtown Seattle. I tried racing this group of 'running' statues along the way. My running is not quite what is used to be.

 Here I am exhausted and the statue runners are still going strong.

 Obviously I thought I was being hilarious and Scot dutifully patronized me by snapping pictures. I have no doubt he is wondering what happened to his wife and who is the cheesy posed-picture loving woman that has taken her place.

We made it back to the hotel after our epic morning walk and then met up with Scot's brother, Pete, and his girlfriend, Jodi for lunch and more walking around and shopping in downtown Seattle. The camera didn't make it out for this portion of the day, it just didn't go with my outfit. :-)

Sleepless in Seattle?

Actually, no. Combine six months of pregnancy, a full day of walking around downtown Seattle and two Tylenol PM and you have yourself a nice, full night of sleep.

Scot and I spent last weekend in Seattle. Scot had a conference, I tagged along and we had a great couple days. Saturday we walked around and I took my new camera for another spin.

We topped of Saturday by taking a gastro tour of Ballard. Our friends, Dara and Jason took us to an amazing dinner complete with drinks beforehand at a cider bar and gellato for dessert. YUM! Sorry, no pics of dinner but the next time you are in Seattle check out La Carta De Oaxaca for some totally authentic Mexican food. 

Anna and Addison - This one is for you!

My sister and brother-in-law recently welcomed twin girls! Anna and Addison are an amazing blessing and we can't get enough of the updates their beautiful mommy sends. In honor of these little girls I had to re-post this You Tube of twin boys having a very serious conversation, apparently something to do with their socks. :-) I love this video as it makes me think of all the fun and joy to come with twins!
