Happy Waddle Day AKA Happy Father's Day

On Sunday, Scot joined some other dad's for a Father's Day mountain bike ride. I walked to meet them at the park and Scot documented my waddle home after the ride. It was a perfect way to start day.

This blog post title not only describes how my belly is feeling these days, it also describes this last weekend. The weekend kicked off with my 31st birthday! Scot and I had dinner with my parents and grandma in a nice little backyard party complete with my dad's BBQ ribs, mom's potato salad and this yummy dessert. Anyone else hungry? :-)

On Saturday, two of my oldest and dearest friends threw little Scheffel and I a baby shower. My friend April hosted the shower at her home and went all out! From the food to the fun BSU Bronco theme, it was amazing! I am feeling very spoiled so far - I could get used to this!

It was so great to spend time with these ladies. With our busy lives we don't see each other often enough and I am so grateful they made an effort to come to see me at the baby shower. :-)

Okay so seriously, if that was not enough for one weekend. Sunday was Father's Day AND our 1 year anniversary! I am going to need to post separately about Sunday because I am exhausted. :-)

Baby Showered

My friends Danielle and Carmal spoiled baby Scheffel and I with a fantastic brunch baby shower. The theme was 'You are my Sunshine' and everything from the happy yellow decor to the sunny weather fit the theme perfectly. Baby and I felt very spoiled by the hostesses and the generosity of all my amazing gal pals.

Honeydew

At almost 35 weeks pregnant the ticker at the top of this blog reminds me that I am now carrying around a honeydew melon in my belly. I sorta wonder if they meant to say bowling ball but thought that might scare women off - honeydew just sounds cuter, right? 

Also, we had a Dr. appointment yesterday. Our very cool and wonderful doctor said that at this point he would not do anything to stop labor if the baby decides to come. Pretty exciting to think that our little guy is almost fully baked. He also stated that first babies tend to come 5 days late so we might not meet the little guy until after our due date of July 15. No worries, I am happy to carry around my bowling ball a little longer. :-)

One of the Good Ones

I am grateful for a lot of things in my life and I am very aware of how blessed I have been with wonderful family, friends and fun experiences. Heck, the name of this blog is Wonderful World, that has to tell you something about my overall feeling about life. 

But I would be remiss if I did not single out one person that has made my life even more wonderful than I could have imagined, my husband. June 19 will mark my one year wedding anniversary with Scot. Over the course of this year (and our 4 years of dating prior to that) I have been reminded more times than I can count that I am with one of the good ones. He really is everything that I could have asked for in a partner and best friend.  He listens when I talk (and I talk a lot), he helps me when I need it, he has my back, he keeps me active, he makes me laugh and he loves me. I could not ask for more than that. 

So now we are going to be parents together and life is going to change forever. The one thing I know for sure going forward is that come what may, I am with an incredible man and together we can handle anything.

So this is what they mean by 'nesting'

I waited for it and even started to get a little skeptical that it would never come. Would the 'nesting bug' ever strike me? Don't get me wrong, I love being crafty and creative but I rarely have the time, patience or energy to actually do any of those amazing things I see on blogs (or watch my friend Danny do). :-) So this weekend shocked the heck out of me when I found myself wanting nothing more than to do projects around the house and even (gasp) craft!!

Project 1: Wall art for the nursery.

I wanted something for the walls that would match the rug in the baby room. Finding nothing that really matched, I decided to paint my own. Here is a picture of the rug.

So I set up an easel in the living room and channeled my inner Van Gogh.

The finished products. I am pretty happy with them!  The nursery is really starting to come along. 

Project 2: Dessert for a dinner with friends.

In truth, I have baked this cake before so I already knew what I was getting into. However, I LOVE this cake so it never hurts to brag about it again. :-) This is the Barefoot Contessa 'Flag Cake' and it is delish, festive and so fun for any American holiday! Don't be surprised if I show up with another one at 4th of July.

 Project 3: Sort and wash baby clothes.

Someone should remember what I am about to write and read it back to me in the future when I am complaining about laundry but I LOVED sorting through some of baby Scheffel's clothes and I loved washing them even more!

We have some amazingly generous friends (and one sister-in-law) that have given us new and hand-me-down baby clothes! Here are the 0-6 month light colors! I think this boy is going to be sporting a different outfit everyday. :-)

So there it is, I have come down with the nesting bug. Not a bad way to spend a drizzly Memorial Day weekend.

An Ode to Good Weather

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! The weather in Boise this weekend was crummy but the weekend still ushers in the summer season and has me dreaming of warmer weather.

The weather last Sunday was gorgeous and provided the perfect backdrop for a backyard dinner party with friends.

32 weeks (start of 8th month)! Where did the time go!
